Heartbeats are a support group for people and their families who are affected by heart conditions. There is currently no such support group set up to help those suffering from this disease in this area and there is an urgent need for this type of he aims to offer advice and guidance and to ensure all concerned understand what help is available and that they are not on their own.
We receive referrals from the Cardiac Team at Southport Hospital and are supported by them at some of our sessions. We also link in with Community Connectors and GP surgeries to promote the group.
The group will provide a regular forum for people who are experiencing heart problems or associated conditions and their families to come and speak to others.
Heartbeats also provides a virtual communication network outside of the support group sessions, where people can if they like correspond over email or by phone if needed.
The group will help to reduce isolation for people with heart disease and associated problems and help increase their own and their family’s resilience to deal with day to day life.
It will also provide an opportunity to make people aware of other local information and services available locally which could help improve their overall health and well-being and help them to stay as well as possible for longer.
