The Dystonia Society is a registered UK charity which provides support and information for anyone affected by dystonia. Dystonia is a common neurological movement disorder. It is characterised by involuntary and uncontrollable muscle spasms which can force affected parts of the body into abnormal movements or postures. Support groups are run by volunteers. Volunteers are usually people who have dystonia or care for someone with dystonia. Groups offer informal support to those within the local community who are diagnosed with dystonia. Relatives, friends and carers of those with the condition are also welcome to attend.
