MECC for Mental Health

Make Every Contact Count (MECC) for Mental Health training is a programme designed to equip individuals with the skills and knowledge to effectively support and promote mental health and well-being through ‘healthy chats. The training emphasises the importance of recognising the signs of mental health issues, reducing stigma, and feeling confident to offer appropriate guidance and referrals. Attendees will learn practical techniques to initiate conversations about mental health, active listening skills, and strategies for offering empathetic support. MECC for Mental Health training aims to empower individuals from various backgrounds, including healthcare professionals, educators, employers, and community members, to make a positive impact on the mental well-being of those they meet in their everyday activities.

By focusing on the concept of "every contact," this training recognises that any interaction, no matter how brief, can be an opportunity to promote mental health. Whether it's a conversation with a friend, a customer interaction, or a chance encounter, individuals can play a vital role in identifying mental health concerns, providing compassionate support, and signposting to appropriate resources and services. MECC for Mental Health training encourages a collective responsibility to address mental health issues in society and emphasises the potential for everyone to make a meaningful difference in the lives of others, thereby reducing stigma fostering a more mentally healthy and supportive environment.
